## How the AnyTrack Lead Ads Integration Works

AnyTrack connects Facebook Lead Ads and your CRM systems, creating a complete attribution loop for reporting and Facebook optimization.

### Complete Attribution Flow

1. **Lead Collection:** Prospects fill out your Facebook Lead Ads form and data flows to your CRM
2. **CRM + AnyTrack Sync:** Lead data syncs from CRM to AnyTrack to validate and enrich with customer data
3. **Sales Funnel:** Sales team nurtures the lead through calls, meetings, and follow-ups
4. **Revenue Tracking:** AnyTrack sends conversion data to Facebook via the Conversion API when the lead converts
5. **Attribution:** Conversions and revenue are attributed to Campaigns, Ad Sets, and Ads
6. **Optimization:** Facebook optimizes campaigns based on CRM events

## Set Up the Integration

<p><strong>Plan requirement:</strong> Sending conversions to Meta via the Conversion API requires an AnyTrack Starter plan or higher.</p>
</Callout>

Follow these steps in order. Steps 1-3 connect your Facebook Ads account and Page so AnyTrack records every Instant Forms lead as an `AdLeadInitialLead` event. To also send CRM lifecycle events back to Meta, continue to the [Conversion API for CRM](/docs/anytrack-meta-capi-for-crm) guide.

### Step 1: Connect Your Facebook Ads Account

Connect your Facebook Ads account first so your ad account and Meta Pixel are linked to AnyTrack. Follow the [Facebook Ads setup guide](/docs/facebook-ads#how-to-set-up-facebook-ads-in-anytrack-in-5-minutes) — it takes about five minutes.

### Step 2: Connect Your Facebook Page

Connecting your Facebook Page tells AnyTrack which Page to collect Instant Form leads from, and it authorizes AnyTrack on the Page (required before Meta will grant Lead Access).

1. **Select your AnyTrack property.**

<Image align="center" border={true} src="https://res.cloudinary.com/anytrackio/image/upload/fb-page-01-select-property.jpg" alt="Select your AnyTrack property" />

2. **Open Tracking Pixels.**

3. **Select your Meta Pixel and click Lead Ads +CONNECT PAGE.**

4. **Log into your Facebook account and click Connect As.**

<Image align="center" border={true} src="https://res.cloudinary.com/anytrackio/image/upload/fb-page-04-connect-as.jpg" alt="Log into Facebook and click Connect As" />

5. **Choose your Facebook Page**, click **Continue**, then choose the Facebook Business(es) and continue.

<Image align="center" border={true} src="https://res.cloudinary.com/anytrackio/image/upload/fb-page-05-choose-page.jpg" alt="Choose your Facebook Page" />

<Image align="center" border={true} src="https://res.cloudinary.com/anytrackio/image/upload/fb-page-07-choose-business.jpg" alt="Choose the Facebook Business and continue" />

6. **Click Save** to grant the requested permissions.

<Image align="center" border={true} src="https://res.cloudinary.com/anytrackio/image/upload/fb-page-08-save.jpg" alt="Click Save to grant permissions" />

7. **Select the Page you want to connect and click CONNECT.**

<Image align="center" border={true} src="https://res.cloudinary.com/anytrackio/image/upload/fb-page-09-select-page-connect.jpg" alt="Select the Facebook Page and click Connect" />

8. **The connected Page shows a green indicator.**

Lead Ads campaigns always connect through a Facebook Page. If Meta has not yet granted AnyTrack Lead Access, assign AnyTrack as your CRM in Meta Business Settings — see [Grant AnyTrack Lead Access in Meta](/docs/anytrack-meta-capi-for-crm#step-3-grant-anytrack-lead-access-in-meta).

<p><strong>Agencies: connect your client's business, not your own.</strong></p>

<p>If you manage Lead Ads for a client and your client granted you access at the business-portfolio level, select the <strong>client's business</strong> in the Facebook login screen — not your agency's business. The login flow only exposes the ad accounts, Pages, and Lead Access of the business you choose, so picking your own agency business leaves the client's assets invisible and AnyTrack receives no leads. If you don't see the client's ad accounts or Pages during connection, you selected the wrong business — go back and choose the client's.</p>

### Step 3: Add the AdLeadInitialLead Column to the Campaign Report

AnyTrack records leads as `AdLeadInitialLead` events. Add the corresponding column to see them in the Campaign Report.

## Tracking Your Sales Funnel

Design your sales funnel to reflect your business needs and goals. AnyTrack tracks both standard and custom events from your CRM and sends them to Meta through the Conversion API. Use the mapping below as a reference.

| Event | Event Source | AnyTrack Event | Conversion API for CRM |
| :-------------------- | :------------ | :--------------------- | :--------------------- |
| `AdLeadInitialLead`   | Meta Lead Ads | `AdLeadInitialLead`    | -                      |
| `Marketing Qualified` | CRM           | `Lead`                 | `Lead`                 |
| `Sales Qualified`     | CRM           | `CompleteRegistration` | `CompleteRegistration` |
| `MeetingScheduled`    | CRM           | `Schedule`             | `Schedule`             |
| `Customer`            | CRM           | `Customer`             | `Customer`             |

</Callout>

### Standard Events Tracked

**Lead Collection Events:**
- `AdLeadInitialLead`: When a prospect submits a Facebook Lead Ads form

**CRM Integration Events:**
- `Lead`: When a lead is created in CRM
- `Schedule`: When discovery calls or demos are scheduled
- `CompleteRegistration`: When quotes or proposals are sent
- `Purchase`: When deals close and revenue is realized
- `Upsell`: When subsequent revenue is generated

## Extending the Customer Journey

Include the email from the `AdLeadInitialLead` event in conversion data you send to your custom integration. Map the email to the `refId` attribute so AnyTrack links the new conversion to the original lead for accurate attribution.

<Image align="center" border={true} caption="Use the Facebook lead email as the refId in future conversions to link them to the same customer journey." src={readmeAsset5} />

### Example: Extending the Customer Journey After a Facebook Lead

Your Facebook Lead Ad generates an `AdLeadInitialLead` event. Later, signal lead warmth by generating a custom conversion event like `PrePurchase`. Create a custom integration endpoint and send a POST request including the email from the original `AdLeadInitialLead` event in the `refId` attribute. This links the new event to the same customer journey. See <a href='/docs/event-attributes'>all available event attributes</a>.

```json
{
    "event_name": "PrePurchase",
    "refId": "jsmith@example.com",
    "fullName": "John Smith",
    "phone": "+16505554444",
    "country": "US",
    "items": [
        {
            "id": "20291",
            "name": "Sony MDRZX110/BLK ZX Series Stereo Headphones",
            "quantity": 1,
            "price": 20.00,
            "brand": "Sony"
        },
        {
            "id": "49292",
            "name": "Beats Headphones",
            "quantity": 1,
            "price": 100.00,
            "brand": "Beats"
        }
    ],
    "currency": "USD",
    "taxPrice": 10,
    "value": 120.00,
    "transactionId": "#24356562534585"
}
```

On the Events Log of your custom integration you will find:

<Image align="center" border={true} caption="AnyTrack will use the refId to match the new event with the Facebook lead" src={readmeAsset6} />

<Image align="center" border={true} caption="The new event is appended to the customer journey that began with the Facebook lead." src={readmeAsset7} />

## Facebook Permissions for Lead Ads

To enable Facebook Lead Ads integration, AnyTrack requires specific permissions to access your page data and lead information. You must have the following permissions configured in your Facebook Business Manager:

**Essential Permissions Required:**
- `pages_show_list` - Access to view Facebook pages
- `pages_read_engagement` - Read engagement metrics
- `pages_manage_ads` - Manage advertising activities
- `leads_retrieval` - Retrieve lead form submissions
- `ads_management` - Access and manage advertising campaigns

Most Facebook Page admin roles include these permissions by default. Verify your account has the appropriate access before starting integration setup.

For detailed information about these permissions and their specific functions, refer to Facebook's official [Retrieving Leads documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/guides/lead-ads/).

## Troubleshooting Common Issues

### Data Flow Problems

- **Missing Lead Data:** Verify Facebook Page permissions and lead form connections. Most missing-lead issues come from Lead Access — confirm the Page is connected in AnyTrack and AnyTrack is assigned as a CRM with Lead Access in Meta.
- **Attribution Gaps:** Check CRM integration is active and revenue events are configured
- **Delayed Attribution:** Confirm attribution windows match your sales cycle length
- **Low Match Quality:** Verify CRM is properly configured and sending customer data

      question: "Do Facebook Lead Ads work with my CRM?",
      answer: "AnyTrack natively supports HubSpot and GoHighLevel for the Conversion API for CRM. Leads collected from your Instant Forms sync to your CRM, and lifecycle updates from the CRM flow back through AnyTrack to Meta. See the <a href='/docs/anytrack-meta-capi-for-crm'>Conversion API for CRM guide</a> for setup."
    },
    {
      question: "Why are my leads not showing in AnyTrack?",
      answer: "Most missing-lead issues come from permissions. The user who connects AnyTrack to Meta needs admin access to the Business Manager, ad account, and Facebook Page, including Lead Access. Also verify that the Facebook Page running your Lead Ads is connected on the Tracking Pixels page and that the lead form belongs to that Page. If AnyTrack has never received a single lead, the setup was never completed — treat it as a configuration problem, not a sudden break, even if leads seem to have stopped on a specific date."
    },
    {
      question: "I'm an agency — why don't I see my client's ad accounts or Pages when connecting?",
      answer: "You most likely selected your own agency business in the Facebook login screen instead of your client's business. When a client grants your agency access at the business-portfolio level, the login flow only exposes the ad accounts, Pages, and Lead Access of whichever business you pick. Choose the <strong>client's business</strong> so their assets appear; connecting your agency business leaves them invisible and AnyTrack receives no leads. A green connected status on the Page confirms the Page is linked, but not that Lead Access was granted — verify AnyTrack is assigned as a CRM with Lead Access in Meta."
    },
    {
      question: "Do I need the Conversion API for CRM to track lead ads?",
      answer: "No. AnyTrack records the AdLeadInitialLead event as soon as a prospect submits your Instant Form, whether or not the Conversion API for CRM is set up. You only need the Conversion API for CRM to send later lifecycle events, such as Qualified Lead or Customer, back to Meta for optimization."
    },
