TikTok UTM Parameters

Use TikTok UTM parameters with AnyTrack to track campaign performance, measure attribution, and optimize conversions across channels. Master UTM tracking for TikTok Ads.

UTM parameters are tags you add to a URL. When visitors click a URL with UTM parameters, AnyTrack collects visitor data, attributes the visit per marketing channel rules, and sends conversion events to Google Analytics. AnyTrack automatically tracks UTM parameters from TikTok Ads and syncs them across analytics and ad platforms.

TikTok UTM parameters are tags you append to URLs to track source, medium, campaign, term, and content for each visitor.

The TikTok Click ID (ttclid) auto-tags to your ads, so it’s not included in the template.

Here is a table that shows the TikTok UTM parameters and their corresponding dynamic tokens:

utm_source__SOURCE__Identifies which site sent the traffic
utm_medium__MEDIUM__Identifies what type of link was used
utm_campaign__CAMPAIGN_NAME__Identifies a specific product promotion or strategic campaign

utm_term__CID_NAME__Identifies search terms
utm_content__AID_NAME__Identifies what specifically was clicked to bring the user to the site
ad_id__CID__TikTok ad ID
ad_placement__PLACEMENT__Where the ad will be placed
adset_id__AID__The ad set ID
ad_site__CSITE__The site ID

How AnyTrack Uses TikTok UTM Data Across Channels

Section titled “How AnyTrack Uses TikTok UTM Data Across Channels”

AnyTrack collects the UTM values from every TikTok click and stores them as first-party data. That data does more than fill the Campaign Report:

  • Attribution — matches each conversion back to the TikTok campaign, ad set, and ad that drove it.
  • Audience building — feeds conversion signals to Google Analytics and your connected ad platforms, so you can build custom and lookalike audiences from TikTok traffic.
  • Cross-platform reporting — compares TikTok performance against Facebook Ads and Google Ads in a single report.

TikTok UTM FAQ

FAQ was last reviewed on 2026-07-16

Do I need to add UTM parameters to TikTok ads manually?
Yes. Unlike Facebook Ads and Google Ads, TikTok does not auto-append UTM parameters. Paste the AnyTrack UTM tracking template into the Tracking parameters field of your TikTok ad so AnyTrack can attribute the traffic.
Does AnyTrack collect the TikTok click ID (ttclid) automatically?
Yes. The TikTok click ID (ttclid) auto-tags to your ad URLs, and AnyTrack collects it when the visitor lands. It is not part of the UTM template, so you do not add it yourself.
Where do I get the current TikTok UTM tracking template?
Copy it from your TikTok Pixel settings in AnyTrack, under the Ads Integrations tab. Always copy the live template rather than reusing an old one, so the parameter tokens stay in sync.
Will TikTok replace the dynamic tokens automatically?
Yes. When your ad is live, the TikTok ad engine substitutes tokens like __CAMPAIGN_NAME__ and __CAMPAIGN_ID__ with real values at delivery, and AnyTrack reads the resulting UTM values on each click.
